Watercourse Biodiversity Reservoirs

According to the texts of the Environmental Code (L.371-1), the watercourses, parts of watercourses, canals, appearing on the sites established pursuant to Article L.214-17 constitute both reservoirs of biodiversity and ecological corridors. For the identification of RB of watercourses, the scientific committee decided to base itself on lists 2 of watercourses classified pursuant to Article L.214-17 of the Environmental Code.This list 2 was adopted on 2 July 2012 by order of the Prefect coordinator of basin. This classification of watercourses concerns the restoration of ecological continuity. List 2 requires work on barriers within 5 years. It focuses on the most "important" sectors and meets short-term objectives (DCE/ecological status, eel, other migrants, etc.). In addition, the sections of watercourses identified as "biological reservoirs" in the Artois-Picardie SDAGE are intended to be classified as biodiversity reservoirs, it being understood that they have already been selected under the modernized ZNIEFFs.
