资源简介:
The gharial is one of the most threatened freshwater crocodylians, endemic to the north Indian subcontinent. The species was on the verge of extinction, with no more than 200 individuals surviving during the mid-20th century throughout the range due to anthropogenic stressors. The species now occurs in several spatially isolated units in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. The recovery of the extant population is largely attributed to the conservation efforts initiated under 'Project Crocodile' in the mid-1970s. The sample for whole genome re sequencing was collected from Deori Gharial Rearing Center, Morena, which was brought to the facility under head-starting.
