Microbiome of the deep-sea corals from the Western Pacific Magellan Seamounts

Ahermatypic corals are common inhabitants in the Magellan Seamounts of the Western Pacific, yet their microbiomes are largely unexplored. In this study, we used 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing to characterize the microbiomes of 30 deep-sea corals collected from this area, representing nine coral families, including the Schizopathidae, Cladopathidae, Discophytidae, and Chrysogorgiidae, whose microbiomes had not been previously described.
