By employment of a mixed-ligand strategy, two coordination polymers were synthesized via the hydrothermal approach utilizing two positionally isomeric carboxylic acid ligands 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid (1,4-H<sub>2</sub>BDC) and 1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid (1,3-H<sub>2</sub>BDC) as well as one flexible ligand of bis(pyridyl-tetrazole) (3-bptzp = 1,4-bis(5-(3-pyridyl)tetrazolyl)propane), and their chemical formulae are [Co(3-bptzh)(1,3-BDC)] for complex <b>1</b> and [Ni(3-bptzp)(1,4-BDC)] for complex <b>2</b>. The two complexes were characterized via diffraction of single crystal X-ray and the analysis of element. Furthermore, the treatment effect of the two compounds on atherosclerosis was assessed and specific mechanism was discussed. Firstly, the real time RT-PCR was performed to detect the relative expression of the <i>miRNA-9</i> and <i>NF-κB</i> after complexes treatment. Next, the Dual-Luciferase reporter assay was conducted for the detection of the interaction between miRNA-9 and NF-κB.
