Triterpenoid saponins are the key active compounds in the Clinopodium chinense (Benth.) O. Kuntze, which play an important role in traditional Chinese medicine herbs with a general pharmacological activeties. To explore the potential genes involved in triterpenoid saponin and flavonoid synthesis, transcriptomic analysis of leaves, stems and roots in C. chinense, were performed.
