Cardiac Operations and Outcomes

This thesis examines how different cardiac operations and surgical decisions affect patient outcomes. It focuses on four major problems: the use of the radial artery as a coronary artery bypass graft after previous catheter procedures, outcomes after septal myectomy for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, the impact of patient-prosthesis mismatch following surgical aortic valve replacement, and late right heart failure after left ventricular assist device implantation. Using large clinical datasets, this thesis identifies key risk factors and outcomes following cardiac operations. The findings help guide surgeons in choosing safer techniques and improve long-term outcomes for patients undergoing complex cardiac operations.
