Number maternal deaths

This dataset presents the total number of maternal deaths reported per country in a given reference year. Maternal death is defined as the death of a woman during pregnancy or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy, from causes related to or aggravated by the pregnancy or its management. This absolute number provides important context alongside the maternal mortality ratio (MMR), supporting understanding of overall burden and trends over time. Data are sourced from the WHO Global Health Observatory, which provides globally standardised maternal health statistics.
