This study investigates the academic use of ChatGPT among Vietnamese postgraduate students in healthcare—a topic that remains underexplored despite growing interest in AI tools in higher education. Through a cross-sectional survey of 301 students, the study examines how ChatGPT is used for academic purposes and identifies key factors influencing its adoption. The findings reveal moderate levels of use, with students mainly employing ChatGPT to clarify complex content and generate writing outlines. Notably, utilization is significantly associated with students’ knowledge of the tool and their attitudes toward technology, suggesting the need for targeted educational interventions to enhance critical and informed use of AI in academic contexts.
