Monthly and Annual Cumulative Precipitation Measurements from the El Carmen Gauge, Santa Cruz Highlands, Galápagos

Daily precipitation was measured at a fixed rain‑gauge site located in El Carmen, in the humid highlands of Santa Cruz Island, Galápagos Archipelago (90.3761° W, 0.6659° S, 422 m above sea level), on the property of Rolf Sievers. Measurements span from January 1995 to December 2025. Daily totals were summed to obtain monthly cumulative precipitation, and monthly precipitation was summed to obtain annual cummulative precipitation.

The rain gauge has been continuously operated at this same location since January 1995. The instrument is mounted at approximately 1.5 m above ground level in an open field free of canopy obstruction or nearby structures.

From January 1995 to August 2009, precipitation was measured using a manually read Hellmann-type rain gauge. Since September 2009, measurements have been obtained from a self‑emptying tipping‑bucket rain gauge. From September 2009 to June 2025, the station operated a Davis Vantage Pro2. From June to December 2025, precipitation was measured using ECOWITT WH40B.
