Mercury crater graph and hollows: containment relations among 31,571 craters and 52 basins, with 6,731 hollows
收藏资源简介:
A directed graph of Mercury's impact craters in which each edge records that one crater formed inside an older crater or basin. Nodes are the 31,571 craters of at least 5 km in the Herrick et al. (2018) catalog and 52 basins from Orgel et al. (2020), with the two records of Caloris merged into one node. A crater whose center lies inside a feature at least twice its diameter is linked to the smallest such feature; 14,933 craters are linked, and the longest chain holds four features. The 6,731 hollows of Bickel et al. (2025), recomputed with the MESSENGER camera model, are assigned to their host craters. Craters that formed inside an older crater or basin host hollows 1.85 (1.54-2.22) times as often (odds) as isolated craters of the same size, latitude, imaging completeness, and regional hosting rate, and craters inside a hollow-bearing parent host them 2.23 (1.62-3.07) times as often; position within the parent does not change the odds, and depth of origin adds a small effect that nesting far outweighs. The record contains the crater table with graph metrics and a first-order depth of origin (version 0.2.0 sets the uplift beneath peak-ring craters and basins near the maximum depth of excavation), the edge list, the analysis records, the inputs needed to rerun the analysis, an example figure, and a self-contained HTML explorer that opens in any browser.
