资源简介:
Samples were examined from sites 42Cb78 and 42Cb16 (Rasmussen Cave) on the
Colorado Plateau of eastern Utah. Site 42Cb78 is a Fremont habitation site located on top of a
knoll and consists of two possible room blocks and a cist feature. PolJen samples were
collected from the floor of a circular rock-lined depression (Feature A) and from the base of a
deep, slab-lined pit containing numerous ceramic sherds (Feature C) to determine the nature
and extent of subsurface deposits within these features. A groundstone fragment from the fill of
Feature A was washed for pollen and starches to provide information concerning plants that
might have been processed using this tool. In addition, a modern control was recovered from
the site surface. Two botanic samples were recovered from deposits within Rasmussen Cave
(42Cb16) to determine whether intact deposits remained after decades of prior archaeological
investigation and illegal artifact looting
