Streptococcus pyogenes emm1 causing invasive disease in Belgium (2020-2023)

Here, we study the epidemiology of emm1 causing iGAS in Belgium and describe how the M1UK lineage has driven the increase in blood stream infections in the Belgian population during 2022 and beginning of 2023.
