A survey of the lichens of Mount Mitchell State Park, North Carolina, published in 2017 recovered 171 species and reported 27 historically reported taxa missing. Here we report 73 lichen taxa as new for the park—based on both recent and historical specimens—for a total of 244 total taxa reported for all time points. In addition, 13 of the 27 taxa reported missing for the park in the 2017 survey were rediscovered. As part of this study, we have also compiled this matrix (Supplemental File 1 of the publication), originally assembled by Lendemer et al. (2017), where each lichen species is coded for biogeographic affinity (widespread, northern disjunct, or Appalachian endemic); growth form (i.e. crustose, foliose, squamulose, fruticose, or lichenicolous); and dominant reproductive mode (i.e., sexual, asexual-lichenized, or asexual-not lichenized). Characters were not compiled from the literature, but rather coded based on examination of voucher specimens. <br>
