Statistics plays a vital role in agricultural studies, yet it poses challenges for students, particularly those with limited background in the subject prior to their graduate studies. To address this, a mixed-methods pilot study employing problem-based learning (PBL) alongside various instructional strategies was conducted to teach statistics and data visualization to 23 agricultural science graduate students. This study leveraged both quantitative data from Learning Management Systems (LMS) and surveys, and qualitative data from semi-structured interviews with 14 students to investigate the effectiveness of the PBL curriculum, different types of student interactions and their relationship with academic performance.
