Biomedical publication and Attraction Score data based on PubMed searches

The database contains data about the volumes of biomedical publications by country. Review publications are generally excluded, unless otherwise specified. The data refer either to the general publications, the clinical trial-based publications or the publications on certain research areas or topics. Attraction Scores indicate the proportions of publications on certain research areas or topics relative to the total volumes of publications. The numbers of publications are also compared to general non-bibliometric indicators such as the country population, the GDP and the R&D expenditure. Database also contains estimates of the publications in English. Statistics about supra-national entities like continents or the European Union is also included.The volumes of publications were determined by using the PubMed search engine. The data refer to time periods 1993-1997, 1998-2002, 2003-2007, 2008-2012 or the single year 2012. Several searches were made a first time in July-August 2013 and then repeated in September/October 2014 to check for the consistency of data over time.The data are ranked according to different criteria.
