"Genomic analysis of marine bacterial isolates from Bay of Bengal coastal sediments: exploring biotechnological applications

This project focuses on the isolation, characterization, and whole genome sequencing of marine bacterial strains from sea sediment samples collected from the Bay of Bengal near Puducherry, India. Marine bacteria from sediment environments are known to produce a wide array of bioactive compounds, enzymes, and secondary metabolites with significant applications in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and environmental remediation. The extreme and varied conditions of marine sediments often select for bacteria with unique metabolic capabilities and the ability to synthesize novel biomolecules.
