Summary of the behavioural and fitness effects induced by permanent exposure to C18∶0 and C8∶1.

Drosophila melanogaster lines were kept during one (F1) or ten generations (F10) on C18∶0- or C18∶1-rich food. F9 individuals kept on either fatty acid were transferred at the beginning of the 10th generation on standard medium (F10-Std). The signs in the table represents the oviposition and fitness performance of exposed lines compared to controls (−: lower; +: higher; = : similar).
