The goals of this project was to sequence the genome of an aerobic denitrifying methanotroph. More specifically, the objective was to determine the gene modules that allow/facilitate denitrification in aerobic methanotrophs. The relevance of this project is mostly environmental, as this organism consumes a greenhouse gas (methane) and under oxygen limiting conditions produces another greenhouse gas (nitrous oxide).
