Effects of organic pollutants on bacterial communities under future climate change scenarios.

Study of natural bacterioplankton communities under elevated concentration of terrestrial organic matter and in the presence of a mixture of organic pollutants. This study shows significant responses in bacterial community composition under the three environmental perturbations tested. These findings point out to the potential impact of future climate change conditions on the basic levels of the coastal trophic web, as well as to the utility of natural bacterial communities as efficient indicators under environmental disturbances expected to occur in pelagic coastal environments.
