Data from: Chromosome-level genome assembly of the cosmopolitan and Critically Endangered school shark, Galeorhinus galeus (Linnaeus, 1758)

Here we present the first reference genome for the school shark (Galeorhinus galeus). Given the species’ evolutionary distinctiveness, economic/ecological importance and high risk to extinction, we constructed a chromosome-level reference genome to understand its evolutionary history and aid ongoing conservation management.
