"WearAppSec: Wearable Mobile App Security Dataset"

"The rapid growth of wearable computing ecosystems has led to the widespread adoption of wearable mobile applications. While these applications enhance functionality and usability, they also introduce multiple potential security exposure points. Despite this, there is currently a lack of publicly available datasets that systematically capture security weaknesses in wearable mobile applications.This dataset, WearAppSec, provides a curated collection of 383 Android wearable applications represented through application metadata and static security analysis results generated using APKHunt, a static analysis tool aligned with the OWASP Mobile Application Security Verification Standard (MASVS). For each application, the dataset includes a JSON-formatted report containing the application name and detected security findings, with mappings to OWASP MASVS domains and Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) categories. To support reproducibility while avoiding redistribution concerns, the dataset does not include APK binaries. Instead, it provides structured analysis outputs and application-level information that enable researchers to identify and study the analyzed apps.The dataset can support research on wearable application security, MASVS compliance assessment, vulnerability distribution analysis, benchmarking of security analysis tools, and empirical software security studies. By releasing application metadata together with structured APKHunt results, the dataset promotes reproducible and extensible research on securing wearable companion applications."
