VPRS 8314 Royal Family Files

This series comprises files created by the Secretary to the Governor relating to any official activity in the State relating to the Royal Family.Most files relate to arrangements to greet, entertain or accommodate members of the Royal Family in the course of State visits to Victoria. A small number of files relate to other topics such as activity undertaken as part of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.Contents vary according to the subject of each file, although documents such as inward/outward correspondence, copies of official programs and guest lists are usually found.Files are not arranged in any ordered sequence other than chronological order by year of the event. More than one file may have been created for any given activity. These are indicated in the attached records description lists.A separate sequence of files was not created prior to 1949. Documentation relating to activity in this period may be located within the various Governor's correspondence series (VPRS 1096, 7575 and especially VPRS 1095 Special Files) or within VPRS 7571 Reference and procedure Files of the Official Secretary to the Governor.All files created after 1959 are maintained and stored by the Governor's staff at Government House.
