广义的财经新闻或称泛经济新闻，覆盖全部社会经济生活和与经济有关的领域，包括从生产到消费、从城市到农村、从宏观到微观、从安全生产到服务质量，从经济工作到政治、社会生活中的相关领域。狭义的财经新闻则重点关注资本市场，并用金融资本市场的视角看中国经济主义生活。  与其他专业新闻相比，财经新闻还有其一定的特殊性，首先，为达到财经媒体的宣传功能，财经新闻工作者也将大量的财经专业词汇予以解读，在专业性与可读性之间寻求平衡；其次，财经新闻报道除了发挥其财经宣传功能外，还为证券市场、研究者预测市场经济活动提供了大量的优质文本语料信息。

Broadly-defined financial news, also referred to as generalized economic news, covers all aspects of social and economic life and economy-related fields, including from production to consumption, urban to rural areas, macro to micro levels, work safety to service quality, as well as relevant domains spanning from economic work to political and social life. Narrowly-defined financial news focuses on capital markets, and examines China's economic life from the perspective of financial capital markets.
