A chromosome-dlevel genome assembly of the highfin moray (Gymnothorax pseudothyrsoideus) (Bleeker, 1852) provides insights into its adaptive evolution

Gymnothorax pseudothyrsoideus (Osteichthyes, Anguillomorpha, Anguilliformes, Muraenidae, Gymnothorax) is an economically important marine fishery resource and is widely distributed in the Indo-Western Pacific region. It is a good model species for genetic studies on the scale formation. However, a high-quality reference genomic resources for this Gymnothorax are lacking. In the present study, the first chromosome-level reference genome of G. pseudothyrsoideus was constructed using Illumina, PacBio single molecule sequencing technique (SMRT), and high-throughput chromosome conformation capture (Hi-C) technologies.
