miRNA profiles were investigated in healthy young males before and after bed rest and subsequently after retraining. Overall design: We examined miRNA expression profiles in skeletal muscle from 56 healthy young males before and after nine days of bed rest and again after a four-week endurance-training program. We identified deregulated miRNAs in skeletal muscle samples from individuals born with normal birth weight (NBW, n=20) and two groups with predisposition to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM); individuals born with low birth weight (LBW, n=19) and first degree relatives (REL, n=11) to patients with Type 2 Diabetes
