This project describes the role of Kog1 in regulating Snf1 activation. We have identified a mutant of Kog1 which has defects in growth under nutrient limitation. Using this hypomorph, we identified this growth defect to be a result of carbon flux imbalance towards amino acid biosynthesis and gluconeogenesis. Further using RNA-seq, we found a temporal delay in transcriptional response of this mutant, resulting in carbon flux imbalance. We found this transcriptional program to be dependent on Snf1 regulated transcription factors- Mig1 and Cat8. Our findings hence illustrate a mechanism of Kog1 dependent Snf1 activation.
