Whole genome sequence of the spongy moth, Lymantria dispar japonica

Two species of spongy moth inhabit Hokkaido: Lymantria dispar japonica and its close relative L. umbrosa. Reports indicate these two species frequently interbreed, producing hybrid offspring. This study will sequence the entire genome of L. d. japonica collected in Sapporo City and L.umbrosa collected in Kitami city to enable genome-level comparisons between these two species.
