Census of Clients of Treatment Service Agencies, 1995

The purpose of the study was to obtain further information on the characteristics of people using drug and alcohol treatment services to enable a comparison of the drug and alcohol related problems being treated over a five year period. In addition, these findings could be compared with information on prevalence of substance abuse from population studies and used to determine the extent to which people with such problems utilise treatment agencies. Variables include the service provided to the client, the principal drug problem of the substance user and illicit drugs injected by the user in the past 12 months. Background variables include client's age, sex, country of birth and employment status.
