Restoration and Rehabilitation - Scenic Rim Walk, Botanic Gardens, Alligator Creek

The Scenic Rim Walk contains unique sectors encompassing a variety of different bioregions and historically significant sites including mangrove wetlands, botanic gardens, creeks, bush walks and ocean frontage. Invasive weed such as Falcataria moluccana has had significant impact on native flora surrounding the Botanic Gardens which forms a component of the walk. The project will remove pest plants to increase the local biodiversity of the area and preserve this heritage listed area for future generations. Nearby Alligator Creek wetland will have Pond Apple, a Weed of National Significance, removed to improve catchment water quality. Walking tracks require erosion control and new signage erected for improved management of public access.
