Gauge Rainfall Datasets from MIDAS-open (hourly) and EA-ST (5-min), Southern UK, 2016–2021

Overview This record provides research-ready gauge rainfall subsets compiled from two UK sources: (i) MIDAS Open (hourly) accessed via the Centre for Environmental Data Analysis (CEDA) and (ii) EA–ST (5-min) gauge observations. Source MIDAS Open data are provided under the UK Open Government Licence (OGL); this record redistributes curated extracts/derivatives with attribution to the original data providers. The original full collections remain available from their respective providers (e.g., MIDAS Open via CEDA) and users should comply with the corresponding terms of use and citation requirements. This dataset contains two compressed archives with rainfall observations from the UK: EA-ST_5min_rain_2021.zip Rainfall data (2021): 5-minute gauge observations from the EA–ST network. Station metadata: information on rainfall stations, including locations and related attributes. MIDAS-open_hourly_rain_2016_2022.zip Hourly rainfall records compiled from MIDAS Open for 2016–2022. Each station has its own folder; within each folder, rainfall data are organized into yearly CSV files. An additional top-level CSV provides metadata for all stations.
