资源简介:
Colossoma macropomum, commonly known as tambaqui or cachama negra, is the second largest scaled fish in South America and is mostly distributed in Amazon river systems. Tambaqui are a fast-growing, omnivorous fish that tolerates poorwater quality. It is a ecological important fish species for the amazon basin acting as long-distance seed dispersers. It is the primary source of protein for Amazon dweelers. Also, tambaqui farming is a growing industry and is currently the largest native fish cultivated in Brazil. Large-scale SNP discovery and construction of a high-density genetic map of Colossoma macropomum through genotyping by sequencing has been already published and the present study sequences and assembles a draft genome of this important Amazon fish species, which will benefit new studies of its biological interaction with Amazon ecosistems and assist new ways to improve genome-assisted breeding programs of this farming species in South America
