The purpose of this project was to determine the whole transcriptome response of Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis to human milk urea compared to complex nitrogen and L-cysteine. RNA was isolted and sequenced from three strains of Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis grown on modified MRS supplemented with urea, complex nitrogen and L-cysteine as a primary nitrogen source. Biological duplicate was performed for each bacteria strain with each treatment.
