Strategic noise map of type A according to the Ln index of land transport infrastructure deadline 2017 in the department of Meuse The objective of the European Directive 2002/49/EC of 25 June 2002 on the assessment and management of noise in the environment is to avoid, prevent or reduce the harmful effects of exposure to ambient noise on human health. The Directive sets out the obligations for competent authorities to develop, stop and publish strategic noise maps (SBCs) and Environmental Noise Prevention Plans (EPPCs). CBSs present diagnoses of exposure to noise in populations. They serve as the basis for the development of PPBEs with the following objectives: to prevent the effects of noise, reduce noise levels in critical situations and to protect the “quiet areas”.
