The current investigation desceibes the very first draft genome assessment of a multidrug-resistant candidate novel Planococcus sp. NCCP-2050T isolated from a soil sample collected from agricultural field with pesticide sprays on cotton crop in Faisalabad region, Pakistan. Genomic sequence comparison of average nucleotide identity (ANI) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization (digi-DDH) values with the closely related type strain Planococcus ruber (CW1T) was 88.45% and 35.4%, respectively, indicating that strain NCCP-2050T could possibly be a new species in genus Planococcus.
