资源简介:
Gallup Black-on-white, shouldered jar (fragmentary), with pseudo cloisonne polychrome design painted over original black-on-white design, Accession AZRU-00008, Catalog #5020, Morris FS 5553. Analyzed by Lori Reed 2006. Medium multi-lithic sand and minor trachyte temper suggests the bowl was manufactured in the Chaco Cibola region. The two fragments represent less than 10% of vessel. Measurements: 23 cm orifice diameter (estimate); height unknown. Image AZRU8-5020 A: 2 fragments of a Gallup Black-on-white jar with black and red painted design over original hachured design. Image AZRU8-5020 detail 3: closeup of design. Image AZRU8-5020 detail 4: smaller fragment showing hachured design under polychrome coating. Image AZRU8-5020 detail 5: closeup of larger sherd showing polychrome coating and design. Recovered from Earl Morris excavation of Room 193, Aztec West Ruin. For Room 193 Morris described “refuse that had been deposited on the second floor, including fragments of a considerable number of very fine medium-sized water jars and mugs that were shattered, possibly intentionally, judging from their number and the fact that they were practically new and of the same potter. Another atypical Chaco water jar had the entire surface completely hidden by a coat of lacquer bearing an elaborate design in yellow, red, and black” (Morris 1928:362).
