A single-cell transcriptomic atlas of the Apis mellifera brain (honey bee)

The behavior diversity of eusocial insects has long been an attractive issue in neuroscience and sociology, but the molecular mechanisms involved remain largely unknown. In honeybee colonies, behavior diversity is exhibited in different caste statuses, including the reproductive division between workers and queens, as well as the age-dependent behavior transitions among workers. Here, we established single-cell transcriptomic atlases of honeybee brains from three castes.
