MODIS is an important sensor onboard the Terra and Aqua satellites. It is the only on-board satellite instrument that broadcasts real-time observation data directly worldwide via the X-band, and allows free reception and use of the data without charge. MOD04 is an atmospheric Level 2 and 3 standard data product focused on aerosol products. It has a 1-kilometer spatial resolution under the Lambert projection, and a 30-arcsecond spatial resolution in geographic coordinates. Daily datasets are categorized as Level 2 data products, while datasets aggregated over 10-day and monthly periods are synthesized into Level 3 data products.
