Taxonomic revision of Discothyrea in the Malagasy region (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

This ongoing project aims to establish the taxonomy of Discothyrea ants in the Malagasy realm. We found that morphology-only approaches were insufficient for delimiting the species occurring in Madagascar because of high intra-specific variation among individuals from distinct populations. Thus, we integrate morphological and Ultra-conserved Elements data to understand and unveil the genus' species diversity in the region.
