Microbial community profiling of anaerobic digestion under different pretreatments

This project investigates microbial community dynamics during anaerobic digestion using different pretreatment strategies. Biomass samples were collected from three experimental groups: untreated, hot water pretreated, and ChCl-lactic acid deep eutectic solvent pretreated. High-throughput 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing was used to characterize bacterial and archaeal populations and to examine their roles in hydrolysis and methanogenesis. The study aims to clarify how pretreatment affects microbial structure, substrate accessibility, and methane production performance in AD systems.
