Provincial Production–Finance Dynamics in Türkiye, 2000–2024: A Panel Dataset of 81 Provinces

This dataset supports the study “Does Finance Follow Production? Provincial Financial Geography and Core–Periphery Asymmetries in Türkiye, 2000–2024.” It covers all 81 provinces of Türkiye over five subperiods—2000–2004, 2005–2009, 2010–2014, 2015–2019, and 2020–2024—and contains 405 province-period observations. The dataset combines provincial GDP and sectoral value-added data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) with provincial banking data from the Banks Association of Türkiye (TBB), including savings deposits, commercial deposits, foreign-currency deposits, and non-specialized credit. It also includes constructed indicators of provincial financial shares, financial intensity, sectoral structure, and production-based centrality. GDP and sectoral value-added figures are reported in nominal current USD using official USD/TRY conversion rates published by TURKSTAT, while TBB monetary variables are reported in nominal current TRY. The workbook also includes selected map data and the principal panel-data estimation results used in the associated research.
