We investigated mechanisms associated with sugar metabolism in two Japanese plum (Prunus salicina Lindl.) cultivars, the climacteric Santa Rosa and the non-climacteric Sweet Miriam. These cultivars share the same genetic background but differ in their ripening behavior.
