Hevea brasiliensis is a major commercial source of natural rubber. Although many fungal diseases are known to affect commercial rubber plantations, little is known about viral infections in this tree. Here we investigated the virome of native H. brasiliensis by small RNA (sRNA) deep sequencing of leaf samples collected in the Brazilian Amazon region in order to identify new viruses.
