Supplementary data for the paper: Ply-ply friction for UD C/PAEK tapes in melt under varying sliding rates

The dataset contains the supplementary data to a journal paper entitled: 'Ply-ply friction for UD C/PAEK tapes in melt under varying sliding rates'. This dataset includes the measured ply-ply friction for UD C/PEEK (Toray TC1200) and UD C/LM-PAEK (Toray TC1225) in melt performed with a newly developed friction tester at the University of Twente, as presented in our earlier work ('Design of an experimental setup to measure friction with a comparison for UD C/PAEK tapes in melt', DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.11350681). The ply-ply friction response as measured in a characterization experiments typically exhibits complex start-up behavior witha peak followed by a steady-state or long-time shear stress. This work investigated the effect of a varying sliding rate on the transient friction response, with the aim to further advance transient friction modeling as published in our earlier work ('A state-rate model for the transient wall slip effects in ply-ply friction of UD C/PAEK tapes in melt', DOI: 10.1016/j.compositesa.2024.108040). The friction was measured under stepwise changes in the sliding rate and for a low acceleration ramp instead of a stepwise applied sliding rate, forming an important input to validate friction modeling. Besides the measured friction data, the scripts used to analyze the data are included as well as the scripts to compute the response of the proposed transient friction model for varying sliding rates.
