Ginseng as a traditional valuable Chinese medicinal herb in China with various pharmacological activities has been widely used in health food as a medicinal food plant. We searched ginseng-related registration information in the pharmaceutical intelligence network and the special food information database of the state market supervision administration of China, and analyzed the distribution of ginseng-containing health food products in terms of product form, year of approval, address of application, health care function, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) dispensing (frequency of use, efficacy of TCM, and properties of flavors and attributes) based on data mining. The results showed that the main product forms of 1255 health foods containing ginseng were capsules and oral liquid. The approval year is mainly from 2020 to 2021; The application address is mainly distributed in Jilin Province; Immune regulation accounts for the highest proportion in health care functions; The most commonly used herbs in combination with ginseng are tonic herbs, such as Lycium barbarum, Astragalus membranaceus, Epimedium, Velvet Antler and Polygonatum sibiricum. This study summarizes the application status of ginseng-containing health food, with a view to providing reference and reference for the research and development of ginseng-based health food.
