**Overview**
This package was designed to offer as main data health plans selection related data, provided by the Office of Enterprise Data and Analytics, part of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), that cover multiple characteristics for the health/dental insurance consumers from 38 states that that use the HealthCare.gov platform.
**Description**
As part of the Obama Administration’s efforts to make healthcare system more transparent, affordable, and accountable, the Office of Enterprise Data and Analytics, within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), has prepared public datasets to provide the total number of health plan selections by county for the 38 states that use the HealthCare.gov platform, including the Federally-facilitated Marketplace, State Partnership Marketplaces, and supported State-based Marketplaces. The datasets for county-level plan selection information cut by:
- The type of consumer (consumers auto enrolled or who actively selected a new plan)
- The household income as percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL)
- Individual and family health/dental plan selection
- Race/ethnicity
- The presence or absence of Advanced Premium Tax Credits (APTC)
- The presence or absence of cost-sharing reductions
- Metal level or plan policy (Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Catastrophic)
Data were obtained from the Multi-Dimensional Insurance Data Analytics System (MIDAS), which serves as a central repository for capturing, organizing, aggregating, and analyzing CMS’s Marketplace data.
As mentioned in the summary information, the data package contains context data related to health professionals (registered nurse, nurse practitioners), public providers enrollment and eligible uninsured people at country level, and, at state level, related to the California’s Medical Service Study Areas (MSSA).
