Description: This repository contains the complete dataset and MATLAB source code required to replicate the findings and figures in the manuscript "The connectivity penalty and the topological syntax of urban resilience". The repository is organized into 11 folders following the analytical workflow of the study: Part 1: Data Pre-processing & Core Calculation 1. Panel data filling: Scripts for missing value imputation using the hybrid approach (Soft-Impute, ALS, Ridge-MICE, RF). 2. MIS, EIS and HQD: Code for calculating the Mean Index Score, Evenness Index Score, and High-Quality Development Index. 3. USI and GSI (two methods): Core algorithms for the Urban Sustainability Index (USI) and Goal Sustainability Index (GSI), including both Eigenvalue and Iterative validation methods. Part 2: Evolutionary Analysis & Visualization 4. SDGs space: Scripts for generating the network topology visualization of the SDG space. 5. City level map rendering: Code for spatial visualization of indicators across Chinese cities (Nature-style map rendering). 6. Four quadrant scatter plot: Scripts for the diagnostic scatter plots identifying city development modes. 7. Moving window: Code for the moving window average analysis to reveal evolutionary trends. 8. X-shaped dumbbell diagram: Visualization scripts for the "X-shaped" evolutionary law. 9. RCA change: Analysis of the Relative Comparative Advantage (RCA) structural changes. 10. Path calculation: Algorithms for identifying and classifying the 16 evolutionary paths of cities. 11. Stage 4 Urban RCA: Specific analysis code for cities in the high-level development stage. Supplementary Data includes all the data used in this project. System Requirements: Software: MATLAB (Recommended version: R2025 or later) Data: All necessary .xlsx and .shp files are included within the respective folders.
