MAPLE-CP three-day global cloud-top phase retrievals from FY-3G PMAI

This dataset provides representative three-day global cloud-top phase retrieval outputs generated from FY-3G PMAI multi-angle polarimetric observations using the MAPLE-CP framework. MAPLE-CP is a physically constrained cloud-top phase retrieval workflow that uses PMAI angular, spectral, polarization, and geometric information to infer cloud-top thermodynamic phase. The released files correspond to selected FY-3G PMAI mapping scenes used to support the manuscript-level demonstration of global MAPLE-CP cloud-top phase mapping. The files preserve the original six-label map convention used during retrieval-output generation. The label values are defined as follows: 0 = clear sky or background, 1 = ice cloud top, 2 = water cloud top, 3 = mixed-phase cloud top, 4 = aerosol, and 5 = uncertain or transition-phase cloud-top retrieval. In this release, labels 0 and 4 are retained separately, and labels 3 and 5 are also retained separately, so that users can inspect the original mapping outputs without post-release class merging. For the quantitative cloud-phase evaluation reported in the associated manuscript, MAPLE-CP outputs and reference labels from ACDL, ground-based lidar, MODIS, and Himawari-9 were harmonized into a canonical cloud-top phase system focused on ice, water, and mixed cloud tops. The present Zenodo release should therefore be interpreted according to the six-label map convention described above, rather than assuming that the released map labels are identical to the simplified three-class evaluation labels used in the manuscript metrics and tables. The dataset is intended for reproducibility, inspection, and visualization of the MAPLE-CP three-day global mapping results. It is provided as a representative research dataset accompanying the manuscript, not as a complete long-term operational FY-3G PMAI cloud-phase product.
