Test 12L and the following test 13L are Part 1 and Part 2 of a unique experiment which was cataloged as RCK01 in the records of the centrifuge facility @ UC Davis. Test 12L employs the large scale (9m radius) centrifuge, and models a prototype scale 5 m height levee on top of 11 m of peat. The levee is made of clayey, and the container was spun to 57 g, then several ground motions were applied in order to investigate the seismic performance of the structure. Due to the possibility of failure in the peat from the increased stressed at higher g levels, the model was spun slowly to increased the g field. Thus, 2 spinning days were required to complete this Part 1 of the experiment. In the following Part 2 the clayey levee will be substituted with a sandy levee.
