Supporting data for “From Data Silos to Data Pools: Data Integration Challenges in China's Smart Cities”

This dataset includes 14 variables altogether. The treatment variable is the establishment year of Data Management Bureau in China The dependent variables are the numbers of online petitions against the government and four types of petitions. The control variables are population, local public expenditure, GDP, and the number of Internet broadband access users of 266 prefectural-level cities in China. The panel data starts from 2014 to 2021. This panel dataset is used for the Difference-in-difference (DID) model to test the Data Management Bureau effect on the number of petitions against the local government.
