The complete genome of a Mycobacterium bovis extremely virulent isolate obtained from a Tapirus terrestris in a public zoological park with severe clinical signs that succumbed to tuberculosis is presented. The genome provide information about single nucleotide polymorphism that may be associated with virulence. This association can help public health measures to control the zoonotic tuberculosis as well as guide future studies to identify potential targets for new treatment drugs or design new vaccine strategies.
